Steeped egg

This egg cracked at the beginning of the boiling process… I know that you “cook down” with heat, but this was not the problem. This egg’s shell had fractures in it before it went into the water (as many eggs do when you bring them home from the grocer). Anyway, rather than letting the egg come up to full boiling temperature (and then turning the heat down)… I turned the heat completely “off” and let the egg “steep” for 10 minutes. It saved the egg from boiling out of the shell… and actually yielded a pretty decent “moderately-soft” boiled egg… what a LUCKY ACCIDENT. ? We got a new way of cooking an egg… AND DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT!!!
